My first impressions:
I notice that this is a very beautiful piece of art which is made out of what looks like Arabic
which I think is very cool having the ability to make art using a language. Even though is does not engulf the space it seems large when you look at it.
What I have learned:
This picture is Ottoman Turkish and it is a tughra which means hand sign. Each tughra is different for every Sultan. Each tughra is different because the sign is made using the words and letters in a sultans name.
